“A Time for Burning” Video & Discussion | Sunday, August 23

"A Time for Burning" is a historical documentary about a white Lutheran church in Omaha during the civil rights movement and the interracial conversations that occurred as a new pastor attempted to orchestrate outreach to two nearby Black churches in 1965. Sixty years later, "A Time for Burning" remains relevant and powerful.

This documentary was influential for the filmmaker of "My Omaha." While not mandatory, watching and discussing "A Time for Burning" will enhance the experience of viewing "My Omaha," which will be shown at an event at UMCL on September 20.

This event will include watching the one-hour academy award nominated documentary followed by lunch and discussion.

This event is open to the public and high school students on up are encouraged to attend.
