September Mission Moment: UMCL supports Mano a Mano Family Resource Center
In support of National Hispanic Heritage Month, the UMCL Mission Committee is delighted to feature a local organization, Mano a Mano, for our September's Mission Moment and Mission Corner.
Mano a Mano’s mission is to empower immigrant families to become full participants in their community. This is accomplished with the following programs:
- Healthy Families - Designed to empower the health consciousness of immigrant families so they may live their healthiest lives.
- Productive Parents - Focused on adult learning, workforce development, and improving community members’ economic prosperity and opportunities.
- Successful Children - Focused on preparing parents and children to succeed in the U.S. school system by making sure that they have the tools and resources to start kindergarten with the skills that they need to succeed.
- Engaged Citizens Program - Focused on helping immigrants obtain their best immigration status available to them through quality, reliable and affordable immigration legal services. Mano a Mano is recognized by the Department of Justice’s Office of Legal Assistance Programs (OLAP), authorized to provide immigration legal services without the presence of an attorney through Accredited Representatives.
- Democracy in Action - Focused on engaging and uplifting the voices of the traditionally marginalized and underrepresented communities and mobilizing them to take action and do their civic duties.
For more information about Mano a Mano, please join us at the visit the Mission Corner in the Community Room after worship at UMCL on September 27 and talk with the representative.
