A ROOTED HISTORY WITH A PLACE FOR YOU

The United Methodist Church of Libertyville (UMCL) is the oldest continuously operating church in Lake County.
We were founded in 1836. (For some context, Andrew Jackson was the President of the United States in 1836!)
Since then, our church has served as a place of refuge and a source of hope for residents of Lake County.
Today, we continue our long tradition of using our gifts and graces to make a difference in our communities and around the world both in-person and online.

WHAT WE Believe

At UMCL we believe:

That God is desperately in love with you and with all of humanity and has created us for an eternal relationship with God.
At UMCL we value each person as someone of sacred value. We affirm all persons as equally valuable in God's sight. We reject discrimination and assert the rights of minority groups to equal opportunities.
In the mystery of salvation through Jesus Christ.
That Jesus’s life, death, and resurrection demonstrate God’s redeeming love.
In forgiveness and in second chances.
That you don’t have to wait until you have life all figured out before being part of the church or seeking out the love of God.

We are committed to keeping our faith community safe. UMCL is a Safe Gatherings Congregation. This means that we’ve completed a nationally-recognized certification process to to reduce the likelihood of abuse in our congregation, helping keep children and vulnerable populations within our congregation safe.
