May Mission Moment: UMCL Supports Capernaum Ministry for Young People with Disabilities
UMCL’s Second Mile Giving program invites our church community to donate above and beyond their standard tithes to support mission-focused organizations locally and worldwide. This month we’re celebrating one of the organizations we support through Second Mile Giving, Capernaum.
What is Capernaum?
Capernaum is an international, ecumenical Christian organization that gives young people (high school to age 22) with intellectual and developmental disabilities the chance to experience fun and adventure, to develop fulfilling friendships, and to challenge their limits while building self-esteem through clubs, camp, and other exciting activities.
Through friendships with leaders, participants can further discover their many God-given gifts and be ready to use them to serve their local church, local Young Life Ministry, and community. Preparing participants for a lifetime of community in the church and co-laboring with them is the goal of the Capernaum ministry.
How does UMCL Support Capernaum?
UMCL provides financial support to Capernaum through our Second Mile Giving initiative. In addition, we offer a space donation so that the group has a safe and welcoming place to gather.

The UMCL Missions Committee extends its sincere appreciation to all those at UMCL who contribute to Second Mile Giving. THANK YOU!!
